Costa Rica Yoga and Meditation Retreat

Yoga & Meditation Retreat in Costa Rica
March 5 - March 13, 2010
with Deanna Evans

Join us on this yoga adventure at Luna Lodge on the remote and beauty Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Luna Lodge is a tropical sanctuary dedicated to yoga, meditation and the preservation of our natural world. The Lodge is nestled on 150 acres adjacent to Corcovado National Park. The area around Luna Lodge boasts steep primary rain forest mountains teeming with waterfalls, abundant wildlife, and miles of raw Pacific coastline. The inherent life-affirming richness of this area will provide the perfect backdrop to deepen one’s practice and reconnect to what is important.

Yoga classes will be lead by Deanna Evans. Deanna encourages her students to approach their practice with a deep awareness of their physical and subtle bodies, and to face challenges on and off the mat with ease and joy through the vehicle of the breath, a still mind, and an open heart. Mornings will begin with a meditation and a heart-centered, alignment-based vinyasa (flow) class. The evenings will consist of a gentle, more restorative class, pranayama (breath-work), and yoga nidra (deep guided relaxation). Additionally, throughout the retreat, we will focus on the qualities of the charkas with information, meditations, and guided activities.

Luna Lodge

A variety of accommodations, including private bungalows, hacienda-styled rooms, & stand-up tents, are  offered at Luna Lodge to suit your desire and budget. The Lodge has a central common room and dining area "the rancho" with a view that spans the forest and Carate River below as well as the Pacific Ocean coastline. The rancho houses the restaurant, kitchen, reception, library, and gift shop. The dimensions of the structure reflect those of the surrounding rainforest with a towering roof and spacious deck; ideal for birdwatching, stargazing, or just absorbing the energy of the surroundings.

Corcovado National Park

Luna Lodge is located adjacent to the Corcovado National Park. Corcovada is famously labeled by National Geographic as ‘the most biologically intense place on earth,’ this national park is the last great original tract of tropical rain forest in Pacific Central America. The bastion of biological diversity is home to Costa Rica’s largest population of scarlet macaws, as well as countless other endangered species, including Baird’s tapir, the giant anteater and the world’s largest bird of prey, the rare harpy eagle. Its amazing biodiversity has long attracted the attention of tropical ecologists, as well as a devoted stream of visitors who come to explore the remote location and spy on a wide array of wildlife.
